Blog Post #2 - Ava Filipek

3-5-year-old Margit Morawetz gets her picture taken, most likely in her own home in Prague, Czechoslovakia, 1925.
In June 1940, when France surrendered to Germany, the confusion allowed Margit to escape to the United States.
Throughout the years after the war, Margit would work several jobs, such as re-educating Hitler Youth.
In July of this year, Margit died in Bethesda, Maryland at age 97.

  1. Great job connecting it to Maryland. We don't always consider how truly global the Holocaust's effect was. It is also amazing how she had the strength to return to Europe to re-educate German youth even after everything that happened to her.

  2. Ava,

Great Job Ava! I love how you were able to fit so much information about Margit into just a small paragraph. Outstanding job on that. I also love how she was able to escape to the United Sates.
