In Night the author Elie Wiesel tells the story of him in the holocaust. In his memoir he uses words that are easy to understand and his writing style is good. When he is writing, the story moves along very quickly. It will travel like a year or two in only a couple of sentences. Like “Thus passed the year 1943… Spring 1944” (p.8) Also the mood changes very quickly. It will act like nothing bad is going to happen then something bad happened. It says “The Germans will not come this far. They will stay in Budapest. For strategic reasons, four political reasons… In less than three days German Army vehicles made their appearance on our streets.” (p.9) In the text “Eight simple words spoken quietly, indifferently, without emotion. EIght simple, short words. Yet that was the moment when Ieft my mother… I didn't know that this was the moment in time and the place where I was leaving my mother and Tzipora forever.” (p.29)This made me feel really sad because they didn't know they were splitting up and they couldn't even say bye and they will never ever see them again. Also when they say “A truck drew close and unloaded its hold:small children. Babies! Yes, I did see this, with my own eyes… children thrown into the flames.” (p.32) This makes me sad because I can imagine watching babies being burned alive and what if that was like your baby brother or sister and you had to watch them be burned alive.

  1. Jared,

I agree with all of your points, but think you should change one thing when posting in the future: your use of adjectives. When describing your emotions or Wiesel's writing style, you often use words such as sad or good. You should try and use more expressive words in the future.

    Nice work,
