“Infants were tossed into the air and used as targets for the machine guns.” (pg. 6)
This part of the book was really terrifying to think of a baby or another infant being thrown
in the air and someone shooting it like a target for their own needs. I think that it's really sad
and if I saw that I would not be able to watch it or even want to know what's going on. I think
that the author wrote it simply and he really put his heart and put a lot of thought into writing
that sentence. I can’t imagine what it would be like to be standing there at that moment.
Their lives were taken away and murdered for no apparent reason except for the hatred that
Hitler had for them.
“A truck drew close and unloaded its hold: small children. Babies! Yes, I did see this with my own eyes… children thrown into the flames.” (pg. 32)
This quote was really sad for me because to think of cute, little, innocent children and babies being thrown is bad, but being thrown into fire was even
worse and more terrifying. I was really sad when I read that part. I think that the author wrote it like you are there and he described the scene very well.
It must have been horrifying to stand there and watch children and infants being burned alive. To be in that position and have so much faith is incredible.
Priscilla,
ReplyDeleteI loved how much you described how you felt after the first quote, but i think after the second you said almost the same thing. I think it would have been more intriguing if you had used a different quote or said something that wasn't as similar to what you said about the first quote. Also, i think you should have wrote more about Elies writing style. Other than that great job.
