Pray by Julia
What Makes Us pray
What makes us pray?
Who makes us pray?
Why did I pray
When you have
Betrayed
Allowing them to be
Tortured
And Burned
But what do they do
They praise your name
Why do you go on
Troubling
These poor people’s
Wounded minds
Their ailing bodies
The Almighty,
The eternal and terrible Master of the Universe, chose to be silent.
We believed in you
I prayed
I felt myself stronger than you
Man is stronger
Greater than God
A thousand times
You consumed my faith
But now,
I have more faith in Hitler than in anyone else.
Julia,
ReplyDeleteYou did an outstanding job with this poem. It is very powerful and meaningful, I love how it rhymed in some parts of the poem. You put amazing detail and a wonderful job. :) Keep up the good work.
Julia,
ReplyDeleteYour poem is very well written. The theme of hopelessness and lack of faith was woven evenly throughout it and affecting. Another intriguing aspect of the poem was its rhythm, particularly in the first stanza:
What makes us pray?
Who makes us pray?
Why did I pray
When you have
Betrayed
Allowing them to be
Tortured
And Burned
But what do they do
They praise your name
Nice work,
Parker
